==================Hello,I'm a bit confused by the version information and update status shown in LimeSurvey.A few weeks ago, I noticed that LimeSurvey 7 disappeared from the available update list. Before that, it was briefly marked as stable, while at the same time the 6.17.x releases were labeled as unstable, which seemed rather confusing.I found this forum discussion:
forums.limesurvey.org/forum/installation...release-notes#274424 and this bug report:
bugs.limesurvey.org/view.php?id=20547 However, I'm still not sure what the current status is.Could someone clarify the following?
Is version 6.17.10 considered stable, and is it safe to update to it?
Was the "unstable" label simply a mistake related to the version 7 release and its update channel?
Or is there a genuine reason why 6.17.10 is marked as unstable, meaning it would be better to wait for the next stable release?

This was, for sure, a mistake / bug / error.

The lead developers consider both, LS 6.x and LS 7x stable.

I personally would still wait a little bit with LS 7.x until I would use it in production.

If 6.17.10 would have any issues, I think the team would rather take this specific version offline than to label it "unstable". Because once a branch is labelled "stable", there is usually no going back to "unstable", especially not so close to the EOL of this branch.

I think it is save to say that labelling LS 6.x as unstable was an error.

Help us to help you!
  • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
  • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).
