Formatting error associated with randomisation was created by Carla.Teotonio
Please help us help you and fill where relevant:
Your LimeSurvey version: [see right hand bottom of your LimeSurvey admin screen]
Own server or LimeSurvey hosting:
Survey theme/template:
==================
When randomisation is applied to two questions, each of which having a second random question associated (conditional on the answer to the first), a formatting error often occurs, causing the second question to appear above the first. How can I ensure that the second question always appears after the first? Thank you very much!

In your special case, a LSS file that shows the behaviour would be great.

I think there is something wrong in the structure of your survey, because if the survey is structured correctly, it is basically impossible for the second question appear before the first question.

I suspect that you put those two questions into the same randomization group, which will then lead to the questions appear in different order.

Help us to help you!
  • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
  • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).
Note: I answer at this forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.

Thank you very much for your quick response.

I don't think that I put those two questions into the same randomization group, but I send the .lss file so that you can see.

Thanks, again!

Yes, you did.
Q101, Q102, Q103,... are in the same randomization group "random1"
But the other related questions Q10101, Q10102 resp. Q10201, Q10201, ... are not.

So you might get something like
Q103
Q10101
Q10102
Q102
Q10201
Q10202
Q101
Q10301
Q10302
Q104
Q10401
Q10402

Because of the randomization group Q101 - Q104 are in randomized order.
Now if your random number "random1" is equal 1 you see that Q101 if displayed after Q10101 and Q10102

This randomization group "random1" is obsolete.

You show one of Q101 - Q104, selected by the random number.
And the following question are shown by condition: To be on the safe side you should add the random number to the condition, too.
