Dual scale: request to update an old javascript

I have a dual scale array with radio (Screenshot 1) and I am trying to solve the following:
1. When participants select "No" on the left scale, the right scale should be deactivated (and reset, if anything has been selected there).
2. When participants select any option on the right scale, the answer "Yes" on the left scale should be automatically checked.

I found a javascript that works for drop-downs in the forum (see here ), but this is suitable only for the first problem. An older script for dual scale with radio does not work in LimeSurvey above 2.0 or 2.5 (see here ).

Unfortunately, I don't know how to modify the older script to work in the latest version of LimeSurvey. Can anyone help? I am attaching a model question.

Thanks!

Hi,
in my opinion you could do this easier without this "sophisticated" approach.
And with the same information.

Only a simple array (with some additional headers)
Like this

Or this (I admit it's a bit of an exaggeration)

I agree with Joffm here. If this is actually the real question, then 2 scales don't make sense and you can cover this with just one scale. Either it is important or it isn't and then you need to ask the level of importance. So "not important" could be part of the same scale.

Not important - low importance - moderate importance - high importance.

Help us to help you!
  • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
  • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).
Note: I answer at this forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.

Thank you very much for your answers. You are right. If one of the two scales is a dichotomy, this is the best way.

However, perhaps it was my mistake to put it this way. The question is whether it is possible to filter one scale using the other. What if the left scale is not a dichotomy?

What if the left scale is not a dichotomy?

You use an appropriate question type.
E.g. two arrays with subquestion relevance.

An "array (dual scale)" combines - as the name suggests - two scales.
An object is rated in two independent dimensions. Like the standard example: Importance vs. Satisfaction.
"Please, rate the following characteristics of this car brand!
How important were they in the purchase decision?
And how satisfied are you with them?"

This type of question can be used to calculate correlations (PEARSON, SPEARMAN, KENDELL, ...) between the scales in the analysis.

Everything else, in my opinion, is a kind of abuse of this type of question.
As you saw, your above example only had one dimension, "importance".
