Changing the comment box text

I want to change the comment box text (originally: “Please enter your comment below”). I followed the solutions proposed here: forums.limesurvey.org/forum/can-i-do-thi...st-with-comment-text but they don’t work. The original text remains unchanged. We have to use Version 2.05+ Build 140404. What is the proper code? Thank you for your help

2.05+? A over 7 (in words SEVEN) year old installation, and not even the 'must up to date' version of the 2.0x branch out in the wild. That is brave. In times of GDPR, LGPD, CCPA, etc. collecting (personal?) data with a software that hasn't received update for that many years is a little risky, in my opinion. I would seriously recommend to update to the latest stable version (LS 3.x - don't go for LS 4.x for productive environments yet).

But anyway...

I think it will be difficult to find someone who still has an installation of this branch running to do tests.

But there are several solutions in your link for different versions. Tpartner confirms there that it works in LS 2.0x, so it should work for you.

So you would need to show us an example of what you did (e.g. an LSS file with just the relevant question and your solution that does not work).

@holch, you won't believe it .
I still have a 2.06.

And the very first solution in that link works

Thank you both. We are annoyed by the University’s version as well but are bound to it. Here is the template.js from the template folder. Where and how am I supposed to insert the code snippet? Here I just copied it to a new line at the end:

You need to remove "". That will result in a JavaScript error.

But there seems to be still this in the code you showed us.
         var img = document.images
         var imgName = img.src.toUpperCase()
         if (imgName.substring(imgName.length-3, imgName.length) == "PNG")

If I remove it, everything is fine.

And why is the function "correct PNG"

Problem not solved yet (see attachment)  . I’m already trying to push towards an update but would still be happy about a temporary fix for this issue...
