Modify language designation in Drop down menu was created by AishaFT
Dear all,

I designed a survey in 4 languages, English (basic language), Albanian, Macedonian and Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian/Montenegrin. The Lime Survey only offered me either Serbian or Bosnian or etc. as language. I opted for Serbian, and now it say 'English', 'Sqiphe' for Albanian, 'Macedonski' for Macedonian and 'Srpski' for Serbian in my Drop Down List. Is there any way that you could change this designation?

E.g. Instead of 'Srpski' it would say BHSM (Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian/Montenegrin)?

Dear Joffm,

Thank you for your reply! Does the suggested solution also work if I do not have access to the server? As I am currently working from home, I can only access the survey remotely, I guess.

You should be able to change the dropdown option text via JavaScript (assuming you have permissions to insert JavaScript).

What LimeSurvey version are you using?

Do you use a custom theme?

Do you want "BHSM" for that option in all languages?

Can you attach a small sample survey (.lss file)?

I am using LimeSurvey Version 2.05+.

'Do you want "BHSM" for that option in all languages?' - I am not sure if I understand the question. I have a version of my questionnaire in Serbian (I chose Serbian, because it was an option given by LimeSurvey) - the language that I am actually using is called BHSM (stands for Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian/Montenegrin).In my Dropdown Menu the English version is called 'English', the Macedonian 'Македонски' , the Serbian 'Sprski' etc. Instead of 'Srpski', I would like this version of the questionnaire to be called 'BHSM' in the Drop Down menu.

Set up your survey to use JavaScript .

Insert this script into the source of the welcome message and into the source of a question in every group (in all languages).
