Hello everyone,
so far I have always used limesurvey 3.x. There we used Shibboleth for user authentication ("ShibbolethAuthLime" from the LimeStore). However, we plan to switch to the latest Limesurvey version (5.x). I haven't found a Shibboleth authentication plugin for this version though. Does anyone work on a new version of this plugin or know of another Shibboleth authentication plugin?

But it says it's for LSv4 and no changes since 2 years

LS4 and LS5 aren't that different, afaik. LS4 was renamed to LS5 after some changes. So in theory, a LS4 compatible plugin should have a good chance to work on LS5 as well.

Now what I don't get is this comment. The Github code and the Limestore link are pointing to someone from Brazil being responsible for this. So not sure where this comes from.

We also thought that the plugin should work in the 5.x version of Limesurvey. However, I get the message:
The plugin is not compatible with your version of LimeSurvey. Manual installation doesn't work either. I will now try to make the plugin compatible with the latest Limesurvey version.

I am not a Limesurvey plugin expert. To be honest I have no real practical clue, but I am seeing a lot in the forum.

There seems to be a configuration file where the version is defined. Changing the version might already get rid of this message and if you are lucky, from LS4 to LS5 nothing has changed that would render the plugin unusable in LS5.

In config.xml try to change this to 5.0 and see what happens.
