We (that is Jan Ehrhardt and me) will attend GOR 2019 next week in Köln, Germany.

Is there a possibility that we meet other LimeSurvey users?

We have a lunch scheduled with one of the LS people, but in the evenings we are free. Time for a LimeSurvey beer?

The GOR incl. workshops is from the 6th to 8th of March. The people from cologne will be still recovering from carnival ;-) LimeSurvey team seems to conduct no workshops this year at the GOR. What is the highlight from your POV?

We have never before visited GOR, we have no specific highlight.

I think that Microsoft BI may give some insights, furthermore I am interested in data gathering through mobile phones.

Hope you had a good time in Cologne Südstadt ;-)

I'm quite amazed how Microsoft got that much traction with PowerBI and with R too.
The business customers placing more and more into Office365 and Azure.
And the research community (as seen on the GOR) is pushing PowerBI too.

It was a good conference.
Main focus was marketing research, a field we thought would be more technically advanced, but people seemed to be amazed by R Shiny.

Limesurvey was known, but there were many others.

Please find our report on the conference at:

R Shiny as Saas or R Shiny on your own installations?

I'm not surprised that people are surprised by shiny. Isn't that widespread in market research.

The biggest market research companies getting out of adhoc surveys. They don't bring enough profit. Typical "Attitude & Usage"price dropped 50% over the last 10 years.

Creating a shiny application for a adhoc study will not prevent that the reseach customer wants a PDF or Powerpoint deck. The price stays the same.

It's the same with LimeSurvey. If you do adhoc research with a three day limit creating survey and data export scripting, you won't be able to do a lot of workarounds. You will choose a different tool which allows you to create it out of the box.

With the 8 billion investment of SAP in Qualtrics the bigger customers of market reseach companies will get exposed to Qualtics via SAP. www.qualtrics.com/marketplace/

You will buy research parts like wordpress themes. And if you get lost in your own survey, you can buy expertise to do it for you. This DIY trend may work for some companies, but a fool with a tool is still a fool.

Thanks for you impressions about GOR 2019.
