Survey times out before it can be finished was created by katieglover
We have just installed Lime Survey. It was actually installed automatically by our hosting provider.

We created a survey with 8 questions and two or three of us tested it and it seemed to work fine so we put notifications in our various Facebook groups to tell people it was there and ask them to take part.

Immediately though, we had a barrage of messages from angry respondents, telling us they'd tried to fill out the survey but that it timed out before they could finish. I asked the hosting company to look into it and they changed a line in our php.ini file. They changed register_globals = On to register_globals = Off but that had no effect.

Does anyone have any idea why our surveys are timing out so quickly? Is there a way to prevent them from timing out at all?

Thanks, Katie

Probably the problem is the session time.

Help us to help you!
  • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
  • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).
Note: I answer at this forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.

Thanks Holch, we kinda guessed that might be it. The problem is that we don't know how to change it. Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks, Katie ;)
