Having an issue sending out emails from LimeSurvey. I have it set to send through SMTP to my working secondary SMTP server and whenever I try and send a message it shows an error connecting to the SMTP server. Any thoughts?

I have interesting experience with gmail SMTP server. I have tried to set email to smtp.gmail.com:465 Result was 'SMTP Error: Could not authenticate.' later I do understood that (somewhere in inet read about it) gmail can forbid to some application. So that mean that gmail try to prevent spamming close authentication for phpmailer application that is used by limesurvey. So my solution was to change mail provider - smtp server. I think that your problem could be same...

Just put some betwwen @ to not have 'javascript hidden mail'.

I do understood that (somewhere in inet read about it) gmail can forbid to some application.

Hi everybody,
My company used new SMTP Host (upgared to mail server Exchange 2010), so i have to changed the address. After I changed, I got error like this.
any idea?

Yo tenia el mismo problema al usar un host gmail or outlook, y luego de navegar un poco y probar varias cosas logre dar con la solucion, el problema "SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host" es porque gmail and outlook no reconocen "smtp" con minuscula, para lo cual hay que cambiarlo a "SMTP". voy a poner los pasos a seguir para que esto funcione.

ingresar al directorio donde se encuentra instalado limesurvey, ahi buscar este archivo:

1.- application\helpers\common_helper.php
2.- ir a la linea 4474 o ir a esta parte del codigo '$mail->IsSMTP();'
3.- Cambiar esta linea por ' $mail->Mailer = "SMTP"; '
4.- Guardar el archivo y listo.

Espero que les sirva, a mi me funciono espero que a ustedes tambien.

Problem in sending E-mail from LimeSurvey
Hi,
I installed LimeSurvey into my website through Hostgator cPanel (PHP 5.3).

I am facing problem in sending invitations, the invitations E-mails are not sent (picture shown below)




The Email settings in the Global settings are shown below




The strange thing is when I use the same Email settings on LimeSurvey Free online Hosting, it works perfectly, this concludes that the Email settings are correct however it is not working on my installed version on my website.
Any idea or advice?

Think your hoster block SMTP connexion from your website. Contact your hoster.
