Hi everyone,We currently operate two LimeSurvey instances hosted on Azure App Services running Windows with legacy PHP 7.4.Due to security concerns and vulnerabilities associated with the end-of-life PHP version, we have proactively stopped both Web App instances. Unfortunately, upgrading PHP on our existing Windows-based App Services is no longer a viable option, so we need to migrate these workloads to a modern and secure platform running PHP 8.2 or 8.3.We are using the Community Edition and understand that official technical support is only available through LimeSurvey's paid cloud subscriptions. We have therefore been advised to seek guidance through the community forums. We would appreciate advice from anyone who has experience with a similar migration, particularly around the following:1. Azure App Service for LinuxWhat would be the recommended approach for migrating our existing LimeSurvey instances from Windows to Linux App Services? Can we retain our existing custom domains, application configurations and database connectivity?2. Containerised deploymentWould Azure Container Apps or Azure Web App for Containers be a suitable option for hosting LimeSurvey? Are there any recommended Docker images or deployment architectures for this setup?3. Database connectivityOur existing database needs to connect to the new hosting environment. Are there any specific firewall, VNet integration or networking changes we should consider when moving from Windows to Linux App Services? how can i migrate the database 4. Migration considerationsAre there any known compatibility issues or recommended steps when migrating an existing LimeSurvey Community Edition installation to PHP 8.2 or 8.3?We would particularly appreciate recommendations based on real-world Azure deployments, along with any relevant technical documentation or migration guides. Thanks in advance for your help and guidance.
1. This is a question you will probably have to ask in a Azure App Service forum, rather than the Limesurvey forum. This has very little to do with Limesurvey.
2. No idea.
3. Like 1. Not a Limesurvey question, but a Azure question.
4. Again, more Azure related than Limesurvey related. Not sure if there are many users out there that run Limesurvey on Azure. I have not much hope that you will get an answer here.
Help us to help you!
Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).
Note: I answer at this forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.
