General settings in survey administration won't open up

Please help us help you and fill where relevant:
LimeSurvey version: 6.17.1+260427
Own server or LimeSurvey Cloud: Own server
Survey theme/template: fruity

Dear Community,
the click on "general settings" won't open this item, the clock keeps spinning around and around. This applies to all surveys.

Looks like you're running LimeSurvey on your own server.  Since you did an update a few days ago I first would check different browsers to login and check for issues. Clear the browser cache of you browsers before checking. Often the browser is using some parts from the cache and that won't work with updates LimeSurvey instances. If you still have the issue I would check for a newer version of LimeSurvey and update.

If your're not the webadmin of the the Webserver you might check if someone changed e.g. security settings on the webserver.

Hi jelo,

thank you for your response. Tried to open the general settings with FF, Chrome and MS Edge - all failed. As one of the webadmins I can exclude any change of settings during the last days. So I'll be waiting for a fix of this issue with the next update.

Hi,
I installed 6.17.1. on my server.
But I do not see this item.


So there is very probably an issue in your installation.
The following clues point in that direction
1. There is an icon at the item
2. The order of items is different.

In the Cloud Version there is a different order and an added item "Umfrageberechtigungen" but your strange item doesn't show up as well.
 


Another possibility is: There is a small glitch. Let's wait for the next release.
Nevertheless you may file a bug report.

HI everybody, today I copied the link behind the "general settings button" and tried to open this URL in a new tab. I got this message.


Is that an indication of an error in the installation? Or doesn't work this copied URL outside the recent limesurvey session?

I assume you do not talk about the "General settings" here
 
but the "Global settings"
 
So, if I click to open in another tab I do not see any issue
Here you see three tabs
 
"the forum with your topic"
"the limesurvey survey listing"
"the additional tab with the global settings"

I only can advise:
Create a new installation in another folder of your server from scratch.

Or is there another button "General settings"?

Hi,
I showed before that this link is not shown, neither in my 6.17.1. installation nor in the 6.17.1. Cloud installation.
But if this is a screenshot of your installation it seems to be really strange that there are items doubled - with and without icons or with different icons.

Yes, your installation seems to be broken.
Neither my installations nor the   Demo-Installation nor the Cloud version show something like this.
And you can be sure that we'd got a lot of "metoo" if there was a general issue.
Meaning: The installation file seems to be fine.

Therefore I recommended to do a new installation from scratch 

But did you say, how do you update? Do you use "Comfort Update"? Do you decompress and upload the single files to your server? Or do you upload the installation zip-file and decompress on your server?
