Please help us help you and fill where relevant:
LimeSurvey version: LimeSurvey Community Edition   Version 6.14.2+250610
Own server or LimeSurvey Cloud: Own Server
Survey theme/template: somewhat customised Fruity Twentythree
==================

I would like to change the layout of the index page of our installation -- include our own logo, remove the list of current surveys, add a little text. Things like that. Alas, the online documentation I've found so far seems quite out of sync with the state of the software. The menus it claims I need to use don't even exist, and I have been unable to find ones that seem to fulfill  the same functions.

Where can I either configure the start page, or at least what template do I need to change in order to have the start page to the entire installation appear somewhat more like I expect it to?

(Manual reference:  www.limesurvey.org/manual/Home_page_settings -- and I'm including a screenshot of what the menu looks like in the installed software)

They do exist, your installation just doesn't show it to you. My bet is that you are not a super admin, so you only see what you are allowed to see.

Or if you are a super admin, someone has modified the menu to show only these options.

Often the admins of an installation don't want everyone to access the theme editor to mess with the themes.

  • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
  • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).

This is how my navigation on a LimeSurvey Community Edition Version 6.14.2+250610 looks like as a super admin (obviously in English, not in German...).

It was a completely pristine installation, and the only user that exists is the one that was created during the installation process. So that's the one user I used to take the screenshots.

Nobody has changed anything, that's just how it came straight out of the box.

The user that is created during the installation should be a super admin in terms of rights. That is weird.

So you are basically missing the "Advanced" column to the left, where the settings are that you are looking for.

What we know so far:

1. It is a clean install, it has not been installed over an older installation

2. The user is the user created during the install, so this should be a super admin user

3. the left column of the navigation is missing.

Difficult to trouble shoot, without actually seeing it / having access to it, because I can't reproduce it here.

Could you give a full screenshot of the installation? Not just the navigation? Is it possible that the left side is cut off due to a smaller screen? Because further to the left you should also see a infobox "system overview".

I assume the download was made from limesurvey.org directly and not through any third party or any quick installation tool some hosters are providing, right?

I just made my browser window smaller and it did not cut off anything of the navigation.

What browser are you using? (I use Chrome here).

Can you try it with a different browser, just to see if this changes anything?

One other question: How did you manage to include the Logo to the top left corner without access to the theme editor?

Ah. I see the issue. My screenshot is misleading. I only used the two columns on the left, and the third one is there -- because the screenshot in the manual indicates that there should be a menu item “Home Page Settings“ under “Settings” (Einstellungen). Which just isn't there.

Hi,
unfortunately you never showed what exactly you want to do.

I have no idea what you mean by "index page".
This one? Or?

And I admit the manual refers to version 3.x. and before.

Was removed in version 5.x.

Yeah, this would have been my next question. Because his link says he wants to change the page that you see when you log in.

But my suspicion is that he wants to change the page that is publicly available in the root of the installation, where the public surveys are listed.

I want to change the page that you see when you're not logged in. This one: www2.hd-soz.de/ . The stuff the manual calls "home page."

So where is the functionality of "Homepage Einstellungen" to be found now, or what template needs editing to get stuff there?
