Please help us help you and fill where relevant:
LimeSurvey version: 6.10.1 +250120 (Community Edition)
Own server or LimeSurvey Cloud: Own server
Survey theme/template: extends_fruity
==================
For some time now, I have been experiencing what I believe to be an installation problem with LimeSurvey and KCFinder. For unknown reasons, KCFinder rarely works properly. Most of the time it starts loading and stays idle, blocking the application. I have to reload the dashboard page for LimeSurvey to continue working. Occasionally, KCFinder works fine, but this happens so infrequently that it is quite problematic.
I've tried with different browsers (Chrome, Edge) and different computers, but the result is always the same.
I've reported the problem as a bug, but the response I've gotten is that they can't reproduce it, so it hasn't been assigned for resolution and remains pending.
Two days ago, I happened to notice that while the problem remained on my desktop, KCFinder worked normally on my laptop, but only for a few hours and then stopped again. Now it doesn't work on the laptop either.
This problem is driving me crazy and I can't think of a solution. On the computers of my colleagues (who are not administrators) this problem does not seem to occur.
Any advice would be appreciated.

A while ago there were some issues with KCFinder and ModSecurity and/or some proxis.

As you are hosting yourself, you might also want to look into that. There should be some discussions in the forum about this issue, but probably quite some time back (probably years). Haven't heard from issues lately, but maybe it is your security settings on your server / within your network.

Help us to help you!
  • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
  • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).

Thanks for your response. I installed FireFox and found out that KCFinder works fine with this browser. The issue appears with Chrome and Edge. Could this be an issue of Chrome and/or Edge settings?
Any ideas -at least pointing to the direction of searching- will be appreciated.

Thanks again.

I am using Chrome and have not noticed any problems with the WYSIWYG-Editor lately. However, I don't use the editor much and have it configured to "Pop up", so I only open it on demand, as I prefer to have the clean code view and try to avoid the WYSIWYG-Editor, so I might no run in this much.

I switched to "inline" mode for the editor now to test and also no issues.

So we have a few things that could happen:
- Some plugins in Chrome and Edge cause this (e.g. script and add blockers). Open Limesurvey in an incognito window without any plugins on and see what happens
- The browser cache is causing trouble - empty browser cache
- Empty asset cache in Limesurvey (Go to "Configuration" --> "Settings" --> "Global" --> "General" --> "Clear assets cache: Clear now".

See what happens. Do it step by step and test after each. You might not have to go through all of these steps.

Thanks again for the reply. I tried all of your suggestions with Chrome. I even emptied manually all Chrome user cache directories and deactivated all extensions. I tried also incognito mode and emptied the LimeSurvey asset cache.

Unfortunately, nothing of these worked. So, I tried the Chrome console, and I got the following on clicking "Resources". Unfortunately, these lines mean nothing to me:
