Hi.
Researching the survey apps (Limesurvey, as well as SurveyJS). Does anyone have any experience with both, and pros/cons in terms of your like/dislike?

thanks

I have no personal experience with SurveyJS but had a quick look at their website. Overall, it looks interesting/promissing.

However, seems like if you want a real backend you will have to pay for it. The essential package (which is free) seems to be limited to creating surveys through code.

but thank you for the link. I will have a look at this and play around. For Adhoc surveys I don't think it is a good tool (seeing that it lacks the backend capabilities), but for creating forms that are more general this might be interesting.

I like that they have an E-Signature field, that could solve one of my main issues i currently have for a specific task.

  • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
  • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).

There is a signature field in LimeSurvey - not "out of the box" but with question-theme "signature" from Adam Zammit.

Oh, good one, Joffm. I thought there was something, but I thought it was only for Offlinesurveys.

Will have to have a look into this. Together with PDFReport this might solve my issue for letting respondents sign NDAs.

Installed the plugin and tested it. Works like a charm. Thank you Joffm. I was looking into a simple way to get the NDAs signed without paying loads of money to DocuSign, which offer a level of sophistication that I don't really need.

No I will just have to play with PDFReport (which I had on my list for quite a while now) and make it work so that I can have the signed NDAs as PDF.

Now to cpme back to SurveyJS.
And answering the other post of the TO about embedding, too.

In my opinion "SurveyJS" is a better choice to embed a small survey in a web page.
Where you do not need any participants management.
But a small poll should be fine.

It's a easy to handle GUI (equal to the new planned designer of LimeSurvey)
Same type of conditions to hide questions depending on previous answers.

I only used the "Create free survey" option and got the json script.
And I embedded  as described in the Documentation / Get started.

Neglect the character set issue.

And no storiing of data .
