LimeSurvey 6.2 and PHP 8.2 support was created by SullyGroup-Bordeaux
Hello,
We are migrating one of customers from LimeSurvey 3 to LimeSurvey 6 on a private server.
Landing page of Limesurvey.org mentions compatibility from PHP 7.4 and above, without being more specific.
The online documentation states It can only be supported from PHP7.4 to PHP8.1
www.limesurvey.org/manual/Installation_-...rvey_on_your_website
Giving this pre-requities, could you give us more visibility on further PHP8.2 support ?
I've searched across LimeSurvey roadmap, but unfortunately I didn't find anything on this topic.

Lastly, as of today, would it be risky to run LimeSurvey 6 on PHP8.2 server ?
Thanks for your answer.

In my opinion: Yes.

There have been a few issues described on the forum that were later attributed to PHP 8.2.

So currently I would highly recommend to run LS 6 with PHP7.4 to PHP8.1, not with PHP 8.2. Most things will probably work, but it can not been guaranteed and you will have to expect a couple of issues. I don't think it makes sense to run a production survey system under this premise.

I have no deeper insights into LS development, but based on my experience I would expect PHP 8.2 support only for the next major release (probably LS7).

I answer at the LimeSurvey forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.

Thank you holch for your clear answer. This is also what we have read on other topics.
We will then advocate our customer to stick with PHP 8.1.

What is the current PHP version status regarding the latest LS version?

I see a change in the documentation from September 18, 2024 regarding PHP support "LS 6.x from PHP 7.4.x to 8.2.x" from version 8.1.x to 8.2.x.

Does this mean that the current version of LS 6.6.x is already 100% compatible with version 8.2 and free from previous bugs?

We officially support php 8.2
Then : if you found a bug : you can report, and we fix it.

(We already start to fix php8.3 issue too).
