Does anyone have experience with or knowledge about the history of the Remote Control API?

I am in the process of moving from Limesurvey Version 3.18.0+190923 to Version 5.3.28+220727. We are using the Remote Control API to add participant tokens with a few token attributes storing certiain points of data for use in survey logic.

I am hoping to find out if there have been significant changes have been made to the API since Version 3 that may pose issues for our code that interfaces with the API. The changes noted in the github release notes indicate a history of various bug fixes, but nothing indicating substantial changes to the API. 

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

In my experience, the API methods are unchanged in 5.x. I haven't had anything crash yet.
