Error sending email invitations

Your LimeSurvey version: Version 2.64.3+170327
Own server or LimeSurvey hosting: Own
Survey theme/template: Sea Green

Hi,

When we try to send an invitation to one or many users, we seem to be getting an error message that states: X-Bad-Sender-Domain: root@localhost.  I have checked the global settings but they appear to be set correctly (ie the mail server).  Are there some other settings that we need to check?

I appreciate we are using an older version of the service and upgrading is being discussed and scheduled.

This is an understatement. This is "ancient". ;-)

What sounds strange to me is "root@localhost" as sender domain.

I have checked the global settings but they appear to be set correctly (ie the mail server).


What type of method are you using? SMTP?
Help us to help you!
  • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
  • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).

Yes, that is what caught my eye, I don't know why it is uising this sender domain.  Yes, we are using SMTP.
