Accessing Advanced Theme Options or custom.css was created by SThomas
Please help us help you and fill where relevant:
Your LimeSurvey version: 5.3.17
Own server or LimeSurvey hosting: LimeSurvey
Survey theme/template: Vanilla
==================
I'm new to LimeSurvey and while I am finding many answers to my questions in the forum, most relate to the advanced settings in Theme Options or custom CSS. I only appear to have basic Theme Options (both under the survey themes and in the individual survey settings) even when the survey is set to not inherit. Consequently I can add a custom logo, and change question colours and fonts, etc. but I cannot change global theme colours (i.e. buttons, nav bar, groups) and custom CSS does not seem to override the Bootstrap settings for font size, button colour/size/shape, etc.
I'm thinking this might be a me issue, but would love some direction on how to quickly activate the advanced settings so I can use the Theme Options fully.
Thanks!

Open the theme editor
either here
or here
extend your theme and you can change, add, adapt everything.
You may read here in the manual:

Hi Joff, many thanks for your quick reply.
I am referring to extended themes in my original post. I should have mentioned that. I only seem to have access to "Simply Options" even when my template editor mode is set to "Full template editor" rather than "Simple template editor" and I set inherit to "No".

If you refer to these "theme options"
manual.limesurvey.org/Theme_options/en
They don't exist anymore in version 5.x.
Maybe somebody else here knows whether there was a special reason to remove this tab.
And as you are a LimeSurvey customer ( as long as it is not the free plan ) you can write to the support and ask for an explanation.

Hi Joff,
I have the "Theme Options" within the individual survey, but "Simple Options" only, which means that I cannot apply any solutions posted in the forum that uses "Advanced Options" (in the template editor or the individual survey).
Under "My personal settings", template editor mode is set to "Full template editor", and I have set "Inherit" to "No".
Does this mean that customizing templates using version 5.x. can only be done using custom css even for basic things like global colour? Even the custom css I'm placing largely doesn't suppress the original template features.
I will shoot LimeSurvey Customer Support a message as you suggest.
