Please help us help you and fill where relevant:
Your LimeSurvey version: 5.3.14+220516
Own server or LimeSurvey hosting: Own server (AWS)
Survey theme/template:
==================

I get "SyntaxError: JSON Parse error: Unrecognized token '<'" in questionEditor.js, line 1841 and the browser hangs.

It happens when pressing the save button after editign a question (dropbox, radiobutton, etc.) with many (~90) options. With less questions works well. When adding one more, the error happens.

I'd say this is a server configuration issue. Probably something about max vars in php, or execution time, etc. But I am really not an expert on this.

But whenever it is something that works to a certain number of items, and then with more it doesn't, the general issue is a certain limit on the server side.

In 3.28.11 something similar happened, but then I got a clear message about max_input_var. I increased this value to 10.000 and it fixed the problem there. But I tried the same in 5.3.15 and didn't work

Well, then I am out of suggestions. Maybe someone else knows something.

Maybe create a bug report so the developers can have a look at this.
