We currently have LimeSurvey installed on a server. The application loads excessively slow when we are creating or modifying a questionnaire.

What could it be?

After monitoring server resource consumption, we only found spikes in disk read speed, what values ​​should be correct in this parameter for it to work smoothly?

How can we get faster?

- Limesurvey version
- Server environment (PHP version, MySQL version, specifications like RAM, Firewalls, Proxies, how do you access it, local server, where is it hosted, etc.).

You are really right, the information is insufficient to assess the problem.

- Lime version: 3.22.2 + 200204
- Installed on VMware virtual environment on Esxi 6.7.0
- RAM: 8 GB / SWAP: 2 GB.
- PHP version: 7.2.34
- Service published to the internet through NGINX proxy, but the problem is shown both when accessing from outside and from inside.
- Internal firewall with access rules that apply to user Vlan, there was no modification prior to the slowness sample.

- System on which the application is installed: CentOS Linux 7 - read 7.9.2009.
- The application works slow since november
- Hypervisor version:
• Product: VMware ESXi
• Version: 6.7.0
• Build: Releasebuild-10302608
• Update: 1
• Patch: 28

On this last point, these teams (esxi) could not be updated to higher versions for compatibility.

If you enter surveys as a respondent how fast or slow is LimeSurvey? You need to find out, if the slowness is only in the backend or everywhere.
Try different browsers to rule out certain issues in certain browsers.
What is the database used and where is it running? Inside the same VM under CentOS7 or somewhere else?

The pragmatic approach would be to check the performance parameter of CentOS7 to see if there is a bottleneck on the OS-level.
And to install the latest LimeSurvey 3.X version parallel to your current installation to see if performance issues persist.
You can update your current LS3 as well, but might don't want that while having running surveys.
