I'm using limesurvey by the firstime. So forgive if my question is very simple. 
I installed the version  LimeSurvey Community Edition   Versão 5.0.14+210811  in a VPS Premium of HostGator. The surveys are working fine, but when I try send email via SMTP (in global tester) I have the error: SMTP ERROR: Failed to connect to server: Connection timed out (110)  using SSL. 
I set the SSL on, using port 465, the host I used the IP than dns name (I test the smtp server and its working well, the test was done in 2 different smtp domains) 
For other tests I installed the same version in other domain and there I could send the e-mail via SMTP authenticated. So when I back to hostgator and try send the smtp I have the same error,
I think that the problem is in the HG settings, but like this is VPS, not have support. What is the requisites of limesurvey to use SMTP SSL send email? Or if someone know how the sets I need to make it work.

LimeSurvey didn't have any restriction.

It's a PHP/server issue (outdated CA or disable external url load surely) … can not help.

I was thinking that probably was something off the limesurvey. Thanks by your notice.

by the way, do you have experience with plugins and customization for limesurvey?
