Just went to login as admin.
begin
The password we thought was right kept on  being rejected.,
Went for a password reset
Received new password
Log in with new password rejected again
Repeat

Any idea what's happening? Is there another way to reset the admin password?

Thanks

I wonder if a recent VPS migration to new hardware could be the issue; haven't used the Limesurvey installation since before the migration.

How can I clear stale sessions?

NB: The session table is empty.

Session table can be empty, it's not an issue.

Do you have something in session cookies on your browser ?

AFAIK there are no session cookies on the PC. I went so far as to use a PC that had never accessed the website in question. Same result. Cannot get past the login screen.

I'm thinking fresh install at this point, more out of frustration than anything else.

Cheers

Found this warning in the logs
"session.save_path: /var/cpanel/php/sessions/ea-php70"

The path doesn't exist, but IIRC this may be more of a PHP issue than Limesurvey.

Is the warning part of my problem, or maybe even all of it?

UPDATE: The session path is valid and exists (php.ini). The warnings about the path in Limesurvey persist.

Your migration to a new VPS seems to have a different php setup.
You need to learn how cPanel is handling PHP-FPM in the first place.
When I take your other post into account, you have at least PHP 7.0 and PHP 7.4 in place (ea-php70 and ea-php74 are part of EasyApache in cPanel).

You should consult you cpanel panel for php settings and your hosting provider support.

Many thanks, jelo.
Although I thought we were correctly configured for PHP 7.4 in WHM across all domains, it wasn't. Once I went through that, all good.

The original installation still didn't work, but a clean one worked nicely using the original database.

Again, thanks

Cheers

At the 1st see of logging page : you must have 2 Cookies : one for session and one for CRSF.
Then : clearly a issue in cookie system of srever.

Great it was resolved with a second setup :)
