I updated my version 3.16.1 to 3.23.0
Since then, LS bug on some versions of Firefox (I hadn't had any user feedback in 3.16.1).
The bug (see attachment) :
- in admin > Preview the survey > click on next > Error: "Please use the navigation buttons ...to reload a page".
- a guest > Answer the questionnaire > click on next > Error: "Please use the navigation buttons ...to reload a page".
The problem is systematically repeated with the :
- Firefox ESR 52.6.0
- Firefox 62.0.3 (Oct 2018)
- Firefox ESR 60.7.1 (June 2019)
Not with newer versions :
- Firefox 63.0.3 (Nov 2018)
- Firefox ESR 68.9.0 (June 2020)
- Firefox ESR 78.2.0
ok, the ESR60.7.1 is not recent, but not that old either... released on 18-Jun-2019.
My question: I want to go back to a previous version, but which one guarantees me a good functioning? Only the 3.16.1 ?
Can I do it without damaging my base ?
Do I have to make an error report ?
The issue might be caused bug in LimeSurvey but it can be Firefox ESR too.
The errormessage "Please use the navigation buttons ." is not uncommon and it not always easy to diagnose. So providing a bugreport helps to raise awareness and aggregate feedback.
Nobody is testing systematically with older ESR versions. So it won't be easy to recommend a LS version working with all of them.
I wouldn't expect support for Firefox 62.0.3 (Oct 2018) in 2020, where Firefox is now on 80.X. I consider Firefox 62.X broken because e.g. root certificates are not uptodate. If Firefox 62.0.3 (Oct 2018) is not working, but Firefox 63.0.3 (Nov 2018) is working, I don't see how LimeSurvey can cover this in their development concept. Your feedback is of high value. It helps to find deeper laying issues inside LS.
Personally I would expect the latest Firefox ESR and Release to be working with the newest release. To reach that would be a good result:
