If a respondent reads their invitation email for the first time and follows the link (containing their unique token) in order to access the survey, they reach a page that reads,
Token mismatch
The token you provided doesn't match the one in your session.
If they refresh the page then all is well and they go to the survey, but is there any way to repair this slight glitch?
I'm using version 3.5.1 of LimeSurvey, professional edition.
Edit: after getting the 'Token mismatch' page, in Firefox the survey's welcome-screen is reached by refreshing, but in Internet Explorer refreshing somehow skips the welcome-screen and goes straight to the first question in the survey, which is not desired.
How can I avoid having the survey's URL-link lead to the error-page, and have it reach the welcome-screen rather than the survey's first question?
Other posts seem to suggest that obtaining the error-page could be caused by tokens that contain upper-case letters or special characters. Or is it to do with not clearing the session-key?
LimeSurvey support indicates that this problem is caused by testing "with the same link," and that the solution is to use the 'Preview Survey' button, which clears the session, rather than click on the survey's URL within the invitation email; or a private browser-tab could be used for testing.
