..after some googlin' around seems to by a known upgrade-issue since 12-2017 - not resolved and nowhere announced - so be warned that an upgrade currently kills Your limesurvey!

The term "stable" is not the same for everyone. People like me, which relate the term "stable" in software with a definition like this

, it is helpful to understand, that LimeSurvey GmbH seems to use the term "stable" in a different way.


As a proxy for "stable" you might do the following things:
Look at demo.limesurvey.org and the version there. (Updates seldom)
Ask, what LimeSurvey version is rolled out on the hosting plans on LimeSurvey.org.

Always use two installations of LimeSurvey.
Never update while running a survey.

We still didn't release 3.x in comfortUpdate.
So for now, the upgrade scripts from 2.x have not been tested.
Please, use comfortUpdate to upgrade your installation.
