Does anyone have experience with creating a random code, not unlike a token via expression manager?

I anticipate starting a survey that will not require the users to register, but once they are in, they will be asked for their email (for sending a report). For tracking and future invitations I want to create this token-like random code, so this can be entered in a token table later (for following surveys, via csv or via RPC).
