i have read the installation requirements for LimeSurvey but i was wondering do i need to install apache web server in order to run properly LimeSurvey or not.

You need a webserver for Limesurvey. Apache is one of them, but you can choose other webservers as well. Apache is the most common one, but NGINX and IIS are other webservers running LimeSurvey with PHP.
