Hi guys,

I want to upgrade from 2.00+ to version 2.06 as my templates are not compatible with 2.5.

1- Should I go for 2.06 or 2.06 lts or 2.6.1 lts ?
2- Are lts versions paid? or free like the rest of LS versions. (I will do the upgrade manually, (not with comfortupdate), but this links says that I need to be a "premium package subscriber" to be able to use lts versoins!!) read here

1) Yes, 2.06lts & 2.6lts are the same ( => please see version.php files and release notes )

2) All versions of LS are free. Only "comfort update" facilities are paid services, but you can always access new releases or/and upgrade your installation(s) freely by your own ...

Sorry to ask again , but I've just learned that my colleague contacted limesurvey's support team last week and here's the response she got:

the latest version is LimeSurvey 2.55 and it is also the one we recommend to upgrade to. You don't need to buy anything to use that one.
2.(0)6 is only intended for users who are still on that version and need more time to update - if you want 2.06LTS you will have to buy the Premium Package.

LTS indicates that it is a Long Time Support Version which has important security fixes backported. 2.06 is not really supported anymore as there is a newer version 2.50 . Only subscribers are able to download 2.06LTS.

I just can't understand what the support's team is trying to say!

Officially we recommend using the latest version. the 2.6.1 only gets security fixes, and has only support, if you also buy one of our premium packages.

If you need to stay with this older version, use the 2.6.1 releases, which are the latest ones.

I've now another question.. Why was the 2.06 recently renamed 2.6 ??? It's quiet confusing because greater than 2.55 and sounds tricky after the 2.59 release ? May this be interpreted as a kind of announcement that v3.0 is coming soon?

I agree with you Ben .. the name of 2.6 is confusing
