2.6 is the same as 2.06 under the new versioning scheme.
Just update normally to 2.6 if you want to stick with the LTS version.

As far as I know there are currently 2 reliable repositories offering up-to-date LS 2.06 versions

1) The LimeSurvey "official" 2.06 LTS version:

2) The not less reliable Denis's 2.06 "Sondages Pro" fork

Indeed, Denis is working on the branch answer_html right now:

Which is a refactoring of the HTML of 2.50's views (and of CSS too). It will be released as 3.0

The 2.6 branches (official ones like the Denis's one ) are maintained only for security fixes. Right now, many bugs has been reported/fixed on 2.50 and not on 2.6. So staying on the 2.6 branch only makes sense for people using a lot of custom templates for their surveys, or a lot of workarounds specific to 2.6.

If you're not bind to the specificities of 2.6's HTML, you'd rather update to 2.50.

Thanks for your answers. Actually, I have two installations and I use both 2.06 and 2.5 versions but I was not sure if I should update my "old" LS to 2.6.

Mines was done originally for email sending Spam bug (and now, there are some other feature (some was here to allow me to do a plugin for 2.50 in a 2.06). Thanks for the security fix .

I'm sorry Louis, but I personally think that it also makes sense for some LS "old" users experiencing an evident productivity drop when using 2.5 new admin interface ... I've no doubt that v3.0 will bring great improvements but I before all expect that in the near future LS will come back as a truly indubitable user friendly application

It also makes sense to stay with 2.06 for those hosting where the jump in requirements for 2.5 are not met (php, MySQL & memory).

IMHO there are too many buttons. It was already the case in older versions but now we have plain text links (sometimes incredibly long). Obviously, it's not a big problem for (intensive & computer savvy) users working with big screens…but any student working on a laptop may quickly feel the 747 cockpit syndrome

Here the point: everybody want something different. A lot of people complained that I removed the 3 menu bars depending on the context:

A lot of advanced users wanted to keep all the buttons on the screen all the time to be able to do everything from anywhere in a single click... They want a 747 cockpit... Whereas I try to do something more like an A320 cockpit

Of course, the best solution would be to provide a simple way customize menus. So, like in Office, basic installation could start with few menus and then advanced users could add so many menu bars as they want:

All in all, there is no problem because in the worst case, surveys made under older versions remain compatible and can be reimported to a 2.5x platform for production....
Even if it should be one of the most important goal, it's quiet impossible to make all users (trained users/beginners tech savvy/not tech savvy) fully happy especially when a quiet disruptive UI is implemented; so don't worry and keep on with your good job

In the 1.91 version a collapse/expand menu bar was implemented... but removed in the 1.92. Probably some users did not like hidden items
