Check how much space is left on your webspace. Find things that can be deleted savely.

E.g. temporary files, old backups, etc. Not much else you can do. Besides upgrading to more space.

Help us to help you!
  • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
  • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).

Thank you for your answer but I don't think this is the reason: my host says that my website uses 958.89 Mo out of 100 Go!

1 Go = 1 024 Mo --> I'm using less than 1% of my webspace

Is that a space unit in french? Never heard or read about Go or Mo in English.
Is that a shared webspace. It could be a temporary problem with the shared tmp directory, which isn't counted against you webspace but might be used during the update. It really depends on the setup. Did you asked you provider for help?

OK, so why not providing this information from the beginning?

The error message was: "Not enough space". with this information, the solution was: give it more space.

With the additional information, this is a totally different story, of course.

I have never heard of "Go" and "Mo". I would guess we are talking about GB and MB, but anyway, no matter what unit it is. If you only use less than 1 Unit out of 100 Units there should be enough space. However, there could be many different reasons for this and I think this is rather a hosting problem than a LS problem (there is a chance of course, that this is LS, but I think this is a small chance).

There's no additional information on LS, only this message, for me too :

not enough space !
for both application directory and tmp directory.

i check my disk space, and there is 98% of free space on 1000mb disk space.

where do we could find a log or something else, for futher details?

I'm interested also to find logs because we seem to have exactly the same issue.

Excuse me for not thinking to say it from the beginning (it was clear for me that I needed help because the message was weird).
And, yes Mo and Go are the French units equivalent to Mb and Gb.

I have asked my server provider but no answer yet. Where can I find some more information about this error?
Thank you.

Hi ! Same error here...
/home/mywebsite/www/limesurvey/application/ :
and
/home/mywebsite/www/limesurvey/tmp
don't have enough space...

Although my server is almost empty, plenty free space...

A workaround ?

Thanks !

To check the freespace, LS use the PHP function disk_free_space.
But, it seems it doesn't work in most shared hosting. So, we'll have to add a functionality like "ignore" or something.
Whatever, right now, if you want to bypass this problem very quickly :

1. Edit the file application/models/UpdateForm.php
2. Find the line (should be line 797) :
Code:
$check->freespace = (disk_free_space( $obj->name ) > $obj->minfreespace );
and change it for :
Code:
$check->freespace = 'pass';

As there were quite a few people with the same problem it became clear that this is not just a configuration problem of one specific user.

Thank you, Louis, for skipping in and solving that (or at least providing a quick work around).

I added an "ignore button" for the not enough space case. It's available in the last master version on github.
We're going to provide an update of the updater to correct it. So, people on shared hosting will not have to manually correct this bug before updating. It's also a good occasion to test live the updater of the ComfortUpdate.
