Question validation: a confusing matter was created by PaulMaguy
Hello,

As relatively fresh french new user, I am just now messing with the question validation settings for my surveys. Please forgive my vocabulary as my Limesurvey installation in set in french and I am not a native speaker.

I noticed that most visible option in a question's settings is "Validation" in the general options :

which was, to me, very confusing. Not only did it not work to set question validation settings right, the "check logic" system showed some obscure (again, to me) regexp errors which I could not correct:

I was helped in the french forum (by DenisChenu, thanks to him), I have been told to use other options instead which are somewhat buried in the advanced settings, in the "logic" sub-section :

I used "Text validation equation" and "text-field validation indication" (I am almost sure they are NOT called like this in the english version but I can access that easily now ^^)

My question is: could the most useful and user friendly option become the most visible one in the next limesurvey versions?

I understand this is about keeping a legacy setting, but I think it would improve ergonomics.

Regards, and apologies to the herein somewhat butchered english language :p,

- Paul

Hi,

in your first screenshot I see just a kind of "micro-tayloring".

And as far as I understand what you are going to validate, your validation in the second screenshot should be in "Equation de validation de question"

I think the translation is a bit confusing. In English it is:

But feel free to improve the translation and contribute to this software.

Best you send a sample (*.lss)

Joffm

P.S.
And I advise to study the sample surveys, either in the demo installation
demo.limesurvey.org/admin/admin.php
or importing them (all are in folder "docs/demosurveys" of the LS installation)

Volunteers are not paid.
Not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless

@PaulMaguy : LimeSurvey GMBH team didn't( come to forum. Forum is only managed by volunteer.

Best is to report it as Feature Request : www.limesurvey.org/community/feature-requests

And currently : must be checked in 4.X version ....
