I have to change the default language in/admin/globalsettings#language

Difficult to answer if we can't reproduce it.
I change the language in my account settings without any problem. And as said before, in 6.8.2.

I also realized that these strings seem to be not included in the po-file of the translation page.
Therefore I am a bit confused.
But this first string "Create a new survey from scratch ..." was implemented in update 601 of the database

Some time ago; the recent database update is update 623.

Unfortunately we can't compare with the cloud version as here we see the "new" GUI without this welcome page.
And - easy to understand - here a lot is still not translated.

So maybe it is due to this "transition".

In any way, it is strange that your version of Limesurvey is the latest, yet Joffm sees these strings translated with the same version. During the Comfort Update, did you get any error messages?

From which version has the update been made? Within the LS6 branch or from an earlier branch like LS5 or LS3?

Also, did you clear the asset cache in Limesurvey and the browser cache?

Nope, no error messages. The previous version was from January 2023 (!). We had many English texts there as well, though I didn't compare one-by-one.
I didn't clear asset cache - must we do that?
I cleared the browser cache multiple times. But others see the English text too, so it's unlikely on my end.

Thanks everyone else for looking into the issue. If I get this right, it seems to be a combination of missing translations, not-yet-implemented translations, and wrong stuff on our end (since the language doesn't change at all).

Some of the strings you mentioned I could not find on the language platform. So this gives me the impression, that the developer that implemented the feature did not remember to include the strings for translations.

Now if the language doesn't change at all, then there might be something wrong in your installation, because the language should definitely change.

However, first we need to make sure we are talking about the same thing:
1. Language of the backend - this can be changed for the user either on login (there is an option to choose the language) or in the user account. The backend language can obviously be completely different from the languages used in the surveys.

2. Survey language - can be set per survey to any language that the super admin allows to be used (but if a language shows in the options, it must have been allowed by the super admin I think).

I found something.

But: It is "Deutsch (Leichte Sprache)".

I am really confused.

Most of these untranslated strings seem to be part of the backend. Not that they don't need to be translated, but I find that less important/urgent than if it would be something that is respondent facing.

But certainly we must identify where the problem is and why they don't appear in the language files / translation platform.

And I still think it would be a good idea to seperate backend strings from frontend strings.

For most "exotic" languages it would be more than enough to translate the strings that are shown to respondents during survey taking. The Limesurvey administration might not be that important to have.

The way it is currently setup, translators have no clear indicator if a string is respondent facing or not. You could deduce it from the context or look at the file it is in, but that is a lot of work.
