There is only one PRO, but many many CONS regarding this "condition builder".
You really should use "relevance equations" resp. "conditions"
  

I find this change unnecessary and suggest to undo it because it requires 2 clicks where before 1 was enough, and the tools available where also more transparent.

I partly agree. I still hate this "ribbon bar" in the Microsoft Office Suite" and would like to have it removed again.
There are always people who prefer a lot of buttons,
 
others who prefer less buttons but submenus.
 
Meaning: A GUI never will be satisfying for anybody.
One user demands a side bar on the left side, the next prefers it on the right side, the third is absolutely convinced that no side bar should be displayed. (This is only an example).
But have a look at the feature requests.

urgently adjust the manual.

The manual is a wiki.
Feel free to contribute to LimeSurvey by changing, adding, improving it.
