Bug closed without feedback or improvement was created by jansch2015
Hello,
I am writing here as my bug ( bugs.limesurvey.org/view.php?id=14007 ) has been closed with one single sentense.
I think the person who closed it did not even take time to read the bug. I even recommended what to change in the code in which file on which line.
What kind of bug solving is this? Could I get some insights why it was closed like this?
Thanks

The reason, for always setting "sender" is unclear to me too.
If not empty, it will be used depending on the transport concept:
Via Sendmail it will be the "-f" parameter
Via SMTP: MAIL FROM' value
Just setting the From Header and ReplyTo seems to be good enough.
Exposing all settings of phpmailer via config.php still possible.
That way changes no hardcoded setting could cause trouble very long (e.g the automatic TLS override).

Phpmailer is not that often in the focus of the developers.jansch2015 wrote: I think the person who closed it did not even take time to read the bug.

Yes, Louis, I have seen your response in the bug. Either you did not read the issue or you did not understand it.
But it's okay. You can leave it as is and I will change it in our system. Other users will encounter the same issue as well, so they will have to find their own way to solve it if you don't.

Thank you! That helped me.
Do I understand it correct that a fix was released in 2.50+?
