Okay, So I want to define the width of the response window. I hope the 2nd screenshot is enough meaningful.
The template that I use is Eirenicon and the type of questions are "multiple numerical input".
Well...now I don't understand the question. If you make the row labels wider with the setting, of course the answer columns will need to be narrower - there is only so much room in the table.

Maybe Eirenicon have a lack of
table.question{width:100%}
in template.css.

At the later Limesurvey versions there is an "input box width" setting at the advanced question settings which looks like this for width = 5:
...and like this for width = 10:
