Own server or LimeSurvey hosting: Own Server
Survey theme/template:vanila
==================

I am experiencing an issue where participants receive the following error when opening their survey link:
"The access code you provide does not match the one in your session."
Scenario:
The first participant opens the survey link and completes the survey without any issues.
The second participant then uses the same machine and the same browser but with their own unique survey link/access code.
The second participant receives the error mentioned above.
Has anyone encountered this issue before?Is this expected   behavior due to the browser session being tied to the first participant's access code, or could there be another cause? Are there any recommended settings or best practices for allowing multiple participants to complete the survey sequentially on the same machine?Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Yes, this is expected behaviour, as the session might still be active on the machine. This is usually no issue when running online surveys, because everyone has their own machine.

If you want to run a "CAPI" style survey where different respondents answer on the same machine, this can be a problem.

However, there is a solution to this and it is an URL parameter called "newtest". Here a couple of links where you can find more about newtest, which basically will reset the session (search for newtest):

  • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
  • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).
