Please help us help you and fill where relevant:
Your LimeSurvey version:  3.28.22+220802
Own server or LimeSurvey hosting: Yes, as it is hosted by my university.
Survey theme/template: extends_fruity
==================Hello,
[img
How can I add a comment field directly behind a response option? In the screenshot, this would be the top option "Studium," behind which I want to add one. What I do not want:
  • Renaming the response option "Other" to "Studium" → I want a comment field behind both response options.
  • A large comment field on the right that applies equally to all options.
  • A separate comment field behind each response option.
Best regards,
Chris

This is not available out of the box.

So you will have to find a workaround.

1. Easiest: Create an additional text question that only opens up when "Studium" was chosen in this question (use conditions/relevance equation for this).

2. Use a text with comment question and hide the boxes you do not want to show via CSS/Javascript

3. Use CSS/Javascript to move the text question from 1 behind "Studium".

Option 1 is available out of the box, without custom Javascript or CSS. So I would go down this route.

Also, not sure if this is actually a single choice question. A lot of students today need to work (at least part time) to finance there studies.

I answer at the LimeSurvey forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.

@holch already mentioned the main options.

1. A following question "Which one?"

2. A question of type "multiple with comments" where you hide the not needed comment  fields

Restrict the number of answers to 1.
In my understanding of language "mainly" always indicates single punch.

3. Another option would be this

In my opinion an open question is not really useful. You will get many, many different ways of naming and spelling. (und jedes Fitzelfach kommt dann)
It is better to limit yourself to 5-6 subjects, the main fields of study - and "Other"

But make sure that you are allowed to use javascript. Reading "hosted by my university" I doubt. Many admins do not allow this.

The screenshots are taken from my "Tutorial 2: Mehrfachennungen,... (in the German part). And right at the beginning you find a small test to find out, if javascript is possible.

Wieder einmal unnötigerweise viel Englisch. Muss das denn sein?

The second option sounds good to me. But could you also tell me, how to hide the fields which I don't need? (I looked through all possible options but couldn't find it.)

I consciously answered in English because I guess here are more English speaking than German speaking people :)

As already mentioned: "Tutorial 2: Mehrfachnennungen,..." , Chapter 2.1.
In the German part, about page 15 +-2

Correct, speaking, but not answering.
If you followed the forum a bit, yöu'd know about the most active volunteers here.
And @holch, @jelo and I are Germans, while @tpartner is Canadian and @DenisChenu is from France.
Therefore I prefer to answer in German - if there are such basic questions, without language gap that might lead to misunderstandings or confusions.

Wenn ich jetzt noch wüsste, wo ich dieses Tutorial finde... Sehe dazu leider auch im obigen Post keinen Hinweis...
