I created a servay with an array and I would like the default answer to be the option selected with the equation at the start.
I have managed to use an equation and it shows the correct results. I can't figure out how to show the result of the equation in the array. So the result of the equation is the selected item.

first two equations give the desired result but the array remains empty
 
when selecting other values in array equation is updated.
Can someone point me in the right direction?

When setting questions via ExpressionScript, you need to use the answer code, not the answer text.
