If you inly have these base64 coded images you have to use a "multiple question".
But:
If I see this. Why images at all?

Use a multiple question and write the text!

When I use a single choice image select question, the code you recommended works fine, and it also works in the question text itself, but not for the answer options in the multiple choice image select question.
