Pdf Array text input defaults to 10 characters.

Please help us help you and fill where relevant:
Your LimeSurvey version:6.2.9
Own server hosting:
Survey theme/template: Fruity
==================
When exporting to a QueXML PDF the default size of the “Array Text” input fields seems to be 10. The only way I can get it longer is to enter into “Input “ “Maximum Characters”. But I don’t want the online version to max out at a number. Is there not a reverse setting that says the pdf input will be a larger number (20 or 30). A minimum number of boxes (spaces) instead of a maximum.
Thanks

Report the issue ?

Well I’m not aware that it is an issue. Is it? Or is this by design?

Obviously it is an issue, as YOU related it here. :-)

Help us to help you!
  • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
  • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).

Well, my meaning was is it an issue of Limesurvey or an issue with me not understanding how it works. Reporting a bug because of something I’m doing wrong just doesn’t seem right. But I have reported it now.

You do it as carefully as possible.

Ask on forum : one developer and one power user tell you to report issue : you can report.

We can make mistakes, but here it's us.

I think if Denis asks you to make a bug report, it is safe to create a bug report. And even if it is not a bug, there won't be any issues. He is a long standing LS developer with a lot of experience. The maxium that can happen is that after the developers investigate the issue, they might tell it is not a bug. But in this case it sounds like a bug. :-)

You did what you could do. You asked in the forum. And it doesn't seem to look like you are doing anything wrong / we have no solution for you how to solve it. So the next step is to create a bug report so that the developers can have a look at this issue and check what is going on.

Thanks. I did get a bug report reply. The reply suggests that most people probably don’t need a larger field on paper. I still think 10 is short. It seems it is designed this way.
So that others know, the solution is to either set the maximum characters for a number that works on paper and online, or to edit the QueXML file “ to be "longtext” for area type questions.
