Hello, we are trying to use advanced ranking question for ranking of images. Yet as the documentation does not detail this question types, we are looking for information on:
- what are the differences of the "visualization" types (blocks, bubbles, list and button)?
- how to change/eliminate the automatically allocated number to each of the "block" headers (like #5549) even when setting show number to no?
- using blocks to visualize images, automatically gray borders/containers are added that increase considerably in size when you start dragging images to Your Choice. How to prevent this to happen or where to chance the size of this gray containers?

Hello I am referring to the question type 2.3.8 Advanced Ranking (new in 5.x).

Great feature but I did not find any documentation on how to use.

I see. I have no idea who added this or why. I find it incredibly buggy and almost impossible to use. The question settings do little or nothing and the styling is terrible.

Please file a bug report - bugs.limesurvey.org .

Here you get an idea how it looked like in LS 3.x.
It is there as a question theme.

But most of the settings seem to do nothing.
Only:

• this number #1, #2
• "show handle"
• "without reorder"

seem to work as expected.

 

You can change the order here and the numbers are adapted
 

And if you select an image the numbers are adapted as well.
 

So, it was bad in 3.x. and in 5.x it is worse.

Yes, this confirms our assumption that there is no visual difference between blocks, bubbles etc. for visualization and for some of the other parameters.
Our main problem are these large gray borders/containers being created once you start to drag the images to "your choice" (as shown in the screenshot)


But as this question type just fits so perfectly our need,  I guess we will just try to work around this for now.

your absolutely right! We had discarded this question type as the documentation gives the impression that only advanced ranking allows you to use images to be ranked.
We just tested it and it just solved our need perfectly.
