Hi there,

I am designing a survey and require the use of images in some of my questions. I have attempted to embed the images using this LimeSurvey guide I found ( Embedding pictures in LimeSurvey survey questions – Manual (umu.se) ), but each time I do I get error messages ("Cannot write to the upload folder" - Google Chrome, and "Internal Server Error... Please contact the webmaster to report this problem" Mozilla Firefox) and or my browser becomes unresponsive and requires closing (when using Microsoft Edge). I have attempted to use multiple internet providers (Chrome, Edge and Firefox) but none allow me to embed the images I require. 

Please can someone advise me on how to get around this?

The problem is exactly as stated, the survey assets folder is not writable. Check the directory permissions - www.limesurvey.org/manual/Installation_-...irectory_permissions

Thank you for this. Apologies if this is a silly question, but how do I go about looking at the directory permissions? I have found the "Survey Permissions" tab but it seems to be restricted to a single option of "none" for both "user" and "user group" options.

You will need administrator access to the server where LimeSurvey is installed.

And for the each deprecated : You LimeSurvey version ?

I think there are some PHP8+PHP7.4 fix between 3.15 and current one.
