Hello all,

I am Sangram, and I am working as an intern in an organization. I have installed LimeSurvey from the GitHub. I have created a survey and also added few participants in it.
The problem I am facing right now, is when I try to send invitations to the participants, I am not able to do so. I am prompted by a mail shown in the attachment.
I have changed the Email Method (in Global settings), from PHP to SMTP, but I am not succesfull. I also tried enabling the OpenSSL Support in php.ini, but with no success.
Please help me lords of knowledge :D

Regards,
Sangram

What are your email settings?

You can only send emails via PHP if your server allows it.

And for SMTP, you need to check if your settings are right. What smptp provider are you using? For Gmail for example you usually need to allow external apps to access and there are certain limits of the number of mails you can send per minute/hour/day.

Help us to help you!
  • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
  • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).

Hello @holch,

I am using the by defualt Administrator name alongside with my email ID.
I want to link it with my organization's SMTP server but no luck. When I selected PHP too,
I was not able to send mails as such.
So if I am planing to activate this on my organization's server, which one do you suggest PHP or SMTP?
Mostly we would be using on Outlook.
Please let me know if you need any further info too.
Have a nice day.

BR,
Sangram

For SMTP you need the credentials from your SMTP account, obviously. To me this sounds like a problem on your side (either server configuration problem for PHP or wrong credentials for SMTP).

I personally ould always rather use SMTP. In my opinion a correctly configured SMTP server in a "good neighborhood" is a lot less prone to being considered spam than sending via PHP. But sending mass emails is a science anyway. So there are many, many factors playing into this and it is actually not really a Limesurvey issue.
