Hi,

I have followed the Manual and tried to look for answers on the forum but did not find anything.

The current version I am using is Version 3.25.17. I have prepared a survey for 30 participants, the responses are not anonymised. All the questions are mandatory. It's a very long survey, they will work on it for several weeks so I want them to be able to not submit the survey at one time and be able to come back later and also to be able to modify their answers even after completion. I have thus ticked both "Enable token-based response persistence" and "Allow multiple responses or update responses with one token".

For the testing, I created a participant table just with my email to check if it works. I created the token, sent an invitation email, all of this works. The problems begin when I tried to fill in some answers and close the tab (without clicking on "resume later"). The answers are not reloaded when I open the link again with the invitation link. Whereas it should, right? That's what is written in the Manual. However, clicking on "Resume later" works, the answers are reloaded when you open the invitation link again.

More, I completed the survey and tried to reopen it to be able to modify answers with the invitation link and it does not work either. The empty survey appears.

I tried to ask for support on Monday 15/03/21 but I still did not get an answer. Please, I could really use your help, the survey is supposed to be ready today or Friday latest...

Thank you,

Averil

"Token-based response persistence" will only work if your questions are on different pages. If you answered questions on various pages and clicked on next, everything that was submitted should be stored.

Now if you fill questions but do not click on submit, Limesurvey has them not stored in the database. Only a click on "next" or "submit" will store answers. Everything on the current page will disappear, if you close the tab.

  • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
  • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).

Thank you for your answer. All the question groups are on one page. There is only one "Submit" button at the end. Does it mean that I have to untick the option "Token-based responses persistence"? Will it fix the problem that we cannot modify answers after completion/submission?
And did I understand correctly that the "resume later" option works in the following way: I received an invitation link, I click on the link that has a token with my email, start answering. I cannot complete it today so I click on "resume later", close the browser. If I go back to the survey, my already filled answers will appear?
Thanks. Averil

If you are using the mode "all in one" no answers will be stored in the database until you click on submit. So all data gets lost if the respondent closes the tab.

I don't use the "resume later" function, but as far as I understand it should basically save your answers so far, to the database and they should be available when you get back to it.

But why not testing it?

Hi,
I have tested it and encountered problems. That's why I wrote the post.
As I wrote in my earlier posts, "resume later" works because I allowed cookies to store the data. However, after submitting, I tried to click on the invitation link again to be able to modify my answers but the blank page appears. Whereas it should be working since I enabled "Allow multiple responses or update responses with one token", right? I want this "update responses with one token" to work.
Thanks!
