I recently installed Version 3.25.1+201124 on a Linux server

For some reason I just cannot get any images to show. Whether the main Limesurvey logo or any other logo.

I just wondered if I am missing something obvious.

I have checked all of the CHMOD on the directories and they seem to be in order. All of the images are named as they should be. When I inspect the page elements, the correct images are in the correct folder.

Weirdly, yesterday, it was all working just fine. I have made no adjustments or anything to the software or settings - but today I cannot get any image at all to show....and I've tried on 4 different computers using different browsers on different IPs.

I can see them when using Safari on my iPhone.
But I cannot see then when using Chrome on a laptop; or mac using safari or an iPad on its own ip using Safari.

There should be a logo on the top lefthand corner of the survey but it doesn't show?

If I right click on image placeholders, and view in a new tab, the image shows no issue at all.

Try clearing the assets cache in Configuration --> Global settings --> General.

Hi Tony. I have done that, but it made no difference.
I have cleared cache in browser and rebooted too.
this is puzzling.

Weird how it works on my iPhone on the same ip router but not on any other device on the same router or different.

My guess is the the iPhone is using a cached (in browser) version.

Do you have FTP access to the server? If so, what do you find in /tmp/assets/?

Try manually removing everything there except index.html.

Many thanks for the suggestion. But that did not work.

Weirdly if I right click on the image and view the image in a separate tab...and then close that tab down and refresh the Limesurvey page, the image I right clicked shows instead of the placeholder....but as soon as I leave that screen and go back to it - the image that was there is now gone again.

To me this looks like problems on your server. When clicking on the second link to the survey I get this error message:

So basically the files are probably not accesible to the public either...

Hi I have activated this survey and so that 2nd link now works.

But the issue remains, logo logos or images will show?

OK, so now the link to the survey works.

The images don't show, but the link to the image works, I can open the image (not sure why you make them download a logo with the size of 3313x1747 pixel though, a waste of bandwith and slowing the survey down unnecessarily, once the image would be shown in the survey, of course).

The theme images folder is 755 chmod. The image files themselves are 644 - is this right?

What happens if you give the logo a name without spaces?

At the moment the browser shows this url for the logo:

I mean, in theory it shouldn't be a problem, but what happens when you call the file "UKSP_logo-RGB.jpg" instead of "UKSP logo- RGB.jpg"?

go for 755 for the images and see what happens...

OK so playing with permissions etc didn't work at all.

So I uninstalled it all and started again...twice.

On the third time, after copying all the Limesurvey files on to the server it didn't work still. So this time, without deleting anything, I copied the same set of files over the top of those I'd already uploaded.

Hey presto, all working as it should.

I have no idea why when I used the same set of Limesurvey files from the outset. But this time bingo. Happy days.
