Volunteers are not paid.
Not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless

Hi,
this is probably an error because you created too many questions/subquestions.
You know that there is a limit of the database (MySQL).
This is 1000 columns using the InnoDB engine
and about 1570 columns using MyISAM.
manual.limesurvey.org/General_FAQ#...regarding_survey_size
This is not LimeSurvey related.
You have to restructure your survey, probably you can split it into two and linking by end-url.

I have tried to split the survey into 2 but having an issue with the second split as it seems not to see the routings from the 1st split.

No, it does not. It is a independent survey.
Therefor you have to pass values you need by the end-url and grab them in the second survey.
Something like:
end-url:
Read here about the GET parameter
www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_httpmethods.asp
And if you you reach the length restriction you might try to combine some values and split them in you second survey.

Hi, we encountered the same error, but I cannot find how many questions/subquestions are possible. What is the maximum?
Thanks!

There is no clear "maximum", there are too many factors playing into this as that one can give an exact number.
But it mainly depends on the used database engine:
manual.limesurvey.org/General_FAQ#...regarding_survey_size
I answer at the LimeSurvey forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.
