Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but wondering if any changes have been made or if there are any new map APIs available for use?

I believe I have resolved this issue. The search box won't work with https when using the standard api.geonames.org. You have to change to secure.geonames.org.

Once I corrected for this (and removed the conditional clause which removed the search box), everything worked as expected.

Just tested in Firefox, and it works for me.

Thanks to lalato (and geoname.org), this issue is fixed in 3.17.0
