I would like to create a easy to remember URL from which potential respondents can access my survey. This is important specifically for the mail/handout recipients. Is this possible to create?

You would need to use another tool that redirects to your survey.

Or you could create a redirect via .htaccess.

So people who type in www.yourdomain.tld/survey/ will be redirected to the Limesurvey Survey url.
