I had to alter one of my surveys after a few responses. So, i'd like to export the old answers, too. How can I do this? I have the name of the old answer table as shown in the deactivation message.
First, please read the warning when de-activating a survey. because that should tell you that you will NOT be able to access the old responses at the backup table after deactivation.
Now that the survey structure has changed, it will be a hassle to access that old data at all. You probably need direct DB access to grab the data and then need to create a CSV file out of it which you can try to import using VV import at Limsurvey. But again, several modifications to the data file are needed.
I remember doing this all the time when I was working with Limesurvey a few years ago, but I simply forgot the steps! that was when we had our own server...
I just need the answers (about 5 responses) in any TXT or Excel format.
So, its basically like this: I'll have to go directly to the DB on the server? Where exactly are the datasets kept? Is there something like a step-by-step guide?
If the structure has changed, you need to adjust the header and data sets at the VV file.
To access the results directly via the BD, search for the lime_survey_12345 table where 12345 is the survey ID.
(Sorry, there is no step-by-step guide.)
Hi Mazi,
I deactivated my survey a few days ago, because data collection is finished and all data stored. Really all data? Yesterday I realized that I actually still wanted to copy the timings data (unluckily, I didn´t find a way to download it, that´s why I postponed it) - but now, of course, they are gone as well. Is there any chance to restore them?
I didn´t quite understand the instruction given in the manual:
"Then, and only then the following steps will work:
Activate your survey again
Go to the "Browse responses for this survey" menu.
Click at the "Import answers from a deactivated survey table" button."
Where do I find this button? I couldn´t find it yet, although logged in as admin.
I would be very grateful for help!
Eli (or tragically true: eliminator  )
Oh Mazi,
great, thanks a lot for your quick answer!
"Choose your source table.
Click at the "Import responses" button. "
- done -
So, I succeeded with importing it - but how do I export it now?
Sorry, I´m really a greenhorn!
Eli
Dear Ben, dear Mazi
thanks a lot for your answers!
So I should not chose export VV but the "normal" survey dataset download (black circle)?
There, how do I find the old survey data recently imported? (I only see that of the newly activated and thus empty version)
Will the timings be included there?
Okay, sorry, I think I got the point.
I imported a wrong old file first, but a later one was correct and contained the right data.
But I didn´t manage yet to retrieve the timings data - the table remains empty. What could I do?
