I realize I can set when a survey is active by going to Survey Settings/ Publication Access & Control/Active Time. However, it's not clear to me how I can set the survey up so that the invitation emails with the tokens get sent once the survey becomes active. If I go to the token management area and ask to send invitations before a survey is active will the emails be held until the survey is active or will they be sent at the time I ask to send emails, or will they not be sent at all since the survey is inactive. the invitations and they are heldPerhaps this is the default behavior, but I can't seem to find any documentation of it. Any help would be appreciated.

Invitations are always sent once you press the button. They are not hold back if the survey is not activated yet (that is technically difficult).
There is no feature yet to send invitations once you activate a survey. In the past, I have coded cron jobs for my customers to automaticaly send invitations/reminders once a day which makes it easier to deal with a system that has lots of surveys. You don't have to do it all manually then.

A Limesurvey cronjob script to automate sending reminders is available at the Limesurvey Template Shop .
If you are interested, it should also be possible to offer a similar script for automatically sending email invitations by cronjob.

You mention a cron script for sending mails automatically.
Is this the one that can be found here:

- Does it prevent having to press on the "continue" button?
- Does it work on self-hosted instances and with all ISPs?
- Is it compatible with ALL versions?

Yes. Currently that script supports Limesurvey 1.92, but we are just testing a first version for Limesurvey 2 which should be available at the shop the next weeks.

If it is run by a cronjob, then sending the emails is done automatically once the server calls the script.

It runs on each provider which offers cronjobs. Please note that limits such as the max number of emails / minute/hour is limited by the provider, not the script. Ask your provider to raise such limits if necessary.

Sorry for digging up this old thread. I'm interested in the LimeSurvey cronjob script mentioned in this thread, but I noticed the last update is from 2018. I'm running LimeSurvey 3.22.7+200225 and was wondering if this version is supported.

Those scripts are also working fine with Limesurvey 3.2xxx.
